If a cop sees a gun pointed at him, what do you expect him to do? Should he stop and say "Pardon me sir, is that a real gun you are pointing at me or is it just a toy?"

I agree with eat the world, there should be no excuses made for brutality committed by the capitalist state.

Well what should the average Joe Flatfoot cop, who is just doing his job and not thinking about being a supposed tool of the capitalist state, do when he sees someone point a gun at him? I keep seing the typical canned answers about cops being capitalist tools but noone answered my question.

If a cop sees a gun pointed at him, what do you expect him to do? Should he stop and say "Pardon me sir, is that a real gun you are pointing at me or is it just a toy?" I could just as easily ask -- if a cop sees a wallet (or cell phone), what do you expect him to do? Should he stop and say "pardon me sir, is that a real wallet you have or is it just a toy?" There is no justifing cops killing the people that they SUPPOSEDLY 'serve and protect'. Cops brutally kill people with this flimsy excuse of 'necessary force'. How often have mentally ill people been gunned down? How often have young black men been gunned down for being in the wrong place at the wrong time? How many kids playing with a toy gun (these things are usually fuckin obvious anyway) or a stick have to be gunned down? How many people have to be beat ON TAPE before its clear? How many of our kids have to die? Of our brothers and sisters? take a look at this - stolenlives.org/the problem is far more widespread than the few cases that actually make the news. In fact, what is documented on that site is just the tip of the iceberg.

I keep seing the typical canned answers about cops being capitalist tools but noone answered my question. IF they were really serving the people they would start from the point of being willing to make the ultimate sacrifice - but that is something I dont see being possible under this system. But let me ask this, what keeps cops from restraining unarmed individuals that instead they chose to shoot? Why cant they carry out this act without beating or shooting the individual? Psych nurses do it despite the potential risk to themselves.

First, I am no stranger to police brutatily. I grew up in New York City, I've seen it up close.
Secondly, I believe you are seriously distorting the issue here. I am talking specifically about the situation of a cop seeing someone with a gun that looks real pointed at them. When your life is on the line, a toy gun in the dark looks plenty real.
My question on this specific situation remains unanswered. We must look at the issues objectively. The simplest explanation is often the correct one. If we turn every single incident into "an attack by the capitalist state" then we look like the boy who cried wolf and we have no hope of appealing to the masses.

Actually I did answer your specific situation.
Bottom line - there is no excuse for summary executions on the street.
When a pig kills someone on the streets he becomes judge, jury and executioner.
What happened to 'rights' and 'trail by jury' that the ruling class likes to talk about so much?

You're dodging the question. Here is what I'm asking:
What should a police officer do when he sees a gun pointed at him?
You're just giving me the same old canned answer with different wording.
