Cointelpro was the FBI's "neutralization" campaign against revolutionaries (and other leftists) in the 1960s.
It tried to create violent conflicts between left (and black nationalist) groups.
It tried to "snitch jacket" leaders (like stokely carmichael) by spreading rumors they were agents.
And at its extreme it planed the assassination of revolutionary leaders (like Fred Hampton).
