I don't know anything about the "Hands off Venezuela" campaign in particular. But I can say that US imperialist moves to attack and marginalize Venezuela definitely should be opposed. And in my opinion this resistance to imperialist actions should be united with and strengthened on an anti-imperialist basis (the same principle would go towards the looming threat of a possibly nuclear attack on Iran, which seems to be much more of a possibility right now than any armed attack on Venezuela).
However, i also don't think that Hugo Chavez and the Bolivarian Republic possess a scientific view of the world and neither has an MLM line. Sure, Chavez will go on TV and make fun of George W Bush or Pat Robertson, but his actual policies are not really aiming to liberate the country from imperialism and acheive a new-democratic revolution in Venezuela struggling towards socialism and communism. I haven't heard anything about a "land-to-the-tiller" campaign -- from what I know about Venezuelan politics it appears that a few lagging factories have been nationalized and the Bolivarian Republic wants to redistribute some of the wealth from the state-owned oil industry to social welfare needs. Sounds a lot like Cuba-style revisionist state-capitalism to me.
